The Toasters
The Toasters
The Toasters are one of the original American third-wave ska bands. Founded in New York way back in 1981 by Buck. We’ve released 9 studio albums, with labels such as Moon Ska Records, Megalith Records, Celluloid, Stomp Records, Caroline Distribution & Skaloid.

Buck is the only constant member in the band. He moved over to the US to manage the Forbidden Planet comic book store, one year later he formed The Toasters. Our first show was opening for Bad Brains that same year, and later along in ’83 we released our first single Beat Up.

Two more years along and we reach Recriminations, our debut EP, produced by Joe Jackson. This was the point Buck decided to create Moon Ska Records, this would be the label for Recriminations.

Over the following years we expanded with the addition of a brass section, releasing Skaboom! in 1987. Since then, the lineup has seen many new faces (regular contributors included Coolie Ranx, Matt Malles, Brian Sledge, Lester Sterling – followed by a huge etc.), we released a bunch more albums, singles, EP’s & compilations – all available in our toastography. Our latest releases being One More Bullet (LP), in 2007 for our 25th anniversary & House of Soul (7″) in 2013.

Up to today we’re still touring around the world, filling the dance-floors with ska. While we’re at it we’ve also brought out a couple of hot-sauces & brews.

So come down to a show – checkout the supporting act(s), skank to our tunes, and you might even have some beer-money left over for merch!
Half Past Two
Half Past Two
After over a decade together, HALF PAST TWO has honed their blend of ska, rock, reggae, and pop punk into their most ambitious release yet, “Camp Slushtone”. Once again teaming with production duo David Irish (Reel Big Fish, Suburban Legends) and Meagan Christy (Chase Long Beach), “Camp Slushtone” showcases seven diverse tracks that speak to where the band has been and where they hope to go in the future. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign reaching over 400% of the project’s goal, the milestones of “Camp Slushtone” will continue into the band’s first ever vinyl record release.

These veterans of the live local scene carry headlining credits at the House of Blues Anaheim and Chain Reaction, and have supported national and international touring acts including Reel Big Fish, The Aquabats, Less Than Jake, RX Bandits, The Selecter, The English Beat, and Pato Banton at venues including The Grove of Anaheim, The Glass House, The Observatory, 924 Gilman, The Phoenix Theater, and The Catalyst. HALF PAST TWO’s strong connection to the Orange County music scene is evidenced by an Orange County Music Awards nomination for Best Alternative Band, airplay on KROQ FM radio, claiming the Number One track for 2014 on Tazy Phillipz’s Ska Parade internet radio show, and inclusion in the 2016 indie movie “Confessions of a Womanizer” (featuring Gary Busey and C. Thomas Howell).
King Sugar
King Sugar
Springing from the heart of California, King Sugar bring a fresh look, feel, and sound to a very time-honored style of music. Playing traditional and modern ska, rock steady and reggae with thoughtful touches of soul and retro pop, the group maintains a loyal and significant local following while continuing to broaden their appeal to an ever-expanding audience.
Tracing its origins to late 2005, King Sugar began as a side-project of veteran local musicians bound together by a common love for Jamaican music. Building strength-on-strength, the band has evolved into its current incarnation as a nine-piece musical powerhouse, fronted by both male and female lead vocals, and boasting hearty horns and a driving rhythm section. King Sugar plays regularly in the Fresno area and enjoy recurring performances at local celebrations and events including The Big Fresno Fair and the annual “Jamaica My Weekend” festival. The band offers a broad musical repertoire ranging from the purely traditional reggae and rock steady grooves of Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, and Phyllis Dillon to modern ska staples like The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Rancid; from the classic 2-Tone sounds of The Specials and The English Beat to fresh versions of pop classics such as “Easy” by The Commodores, Gloria Jones’ original “Tainted Love” and more.
King Sugar has made a name for themselves by playing venues throughout California including The Blank Club in San Jose and The Knitting Factory in Hollywood, and supporting influential name acts in Jamaican-genre music such as Prezident Brown, Garth Dennis, Bad Manners, and fellow Fresnans and Third-Wave ska kings Let’s Go Bowling.
King Sugar is currently working on studio recordings of some of their most popular songs and has shows booked through fall 2012. The group looks forward to the future and is ready to open the ears and hearts of new fans with their distinctive sound, energizing live performances, and assurance of good times for all. One thing has been proven and should be noted; King Sugar’s live shows are known for getting people dancing!
