Macondo
Macondo
The fictional city from “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is brought to life through the music of Macondo, an alt/indie rock quartet from Orosi, CA. Formed while frontman Israel Flores lived in exile in Mexico City, Macondo creates sounds that are confident and vigorous, exuding Mexican and American influences through use of cumbia rhythms, percussion, and rock ferocity. The potent mezcla of styles (a reflection of band member’s eclectic punk, norteño, and hard rock influences) results in genre bending tunes that is cultured and boundless. A fitting tribute to its magical namesake.
